» AU. Following the Wizarding War in which both of his parents are killed, Draco finds himself living alone in Malfoy Manor. Every night, he hears the sound of someone moving around in his late mother’s parlor room; when he checks, no one is ever there. One night, he catches a woman trying on his mother’s dresses, and as he looks in the mirror behind her and notices the way her skin is the slightest bit transparent, Draco realizes that she is a ghost.
“You’re very beautiful,” he said.
She said nothing.
Then, as an afterthought, he added, “And lonely.”
She looked at him, a pale hand delicately smoothing out the crinkled lace of her dress. “So are you.”
